Rick Aeilts is a Champaign, Illinois native, having graduated from Central High School in 1984. Rick is a 1995 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law, having previously received his Master’s in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University in 1992 and his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1989. Rick began his M.B.A. studies while simultaneously pursuing a career in the National Football League. After retiring from football, Rick was able to pursue his M.B.A. full time at Southern Illinois University. While completing his M.B.A at Southern Illinois, Rick gained valuable and varied experience working as the building manager for the SIU Student Center and a small business counselor at SIU Small Business Incubator. During his last two years of law school, Rick was employed as a Law Clerk at Winters, Brewster, Murphy, Crosby and Patchett, a Marion, Illinois law firm.
After graduating from law school, Rick was hired by the Winters law firm where he practiced for eight years primarily as a personal injury and worker’s compensation litigator. In 2003, Rick and his wife Susie decided to return to Champaign, Illinois to raise their two children, Audrey and Joseph. After joining Erwin, Martinkus & Cole, Ltd. in 2003, Rick’s practice expanded into the areas of residential and commercial real estate, while at the same time continuing his representation of clients in the fields of personal injury and worker’s compensation.
With over 20 years of legal practice, Rick has extensive experience representing clients in both state and Federal court. He is a currently a member of the Champaign County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Bar Association of the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He has also volunteered his time to such deserving organizations as Big Brothers-Big Sisters and the C-U Kiwanis little league. Rick and Susie continue to reside in Champaign, Illinois.
